Artist APPLICATION

Interested in becoming a part of ICOSA?

Our collective is limited to 20 members. Artist applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

Requirements

  • Dues are $100/month. All proceeds go directly to gallery operations and programming.

  • Collective meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7pm in the gallery.

  • To comprehensively participate and fulfill the above requirements, applicants should live in the Austin area.

  • As an artist-run organization, volunteer hours are compulsory. This may include gallery prep and install, committee work, and gallery hours. Individual members may choose the type of work they prefer.

  • ICOSA Committees include Operations/Admin, Financing and Audit, Development/Grants, Fundraising, Design & Archiving, Facilities, Events, Gift Shop & Merchandising, and Marketing/PR, plus multiple Subcommittees.

Benefits

  • ICOSA artists have the opportunity to create a two-person four-week exhibition (with another member) in our gallery space. You may show your own work, curate an exhibition — whatever you envision for the project space. Members are there to provide logistical support to help realize your exhibition to its fullest potential. It takes approximately 18 months to cycle through all 20 ICOSA artists. Be sure to take this timeframe into consideration when you apply.

  • The option to sell merchandise, prints, and small works commission-free in our gift shop. Member artists retain 100% of the sale price.

  • Enhance your practice through professional support, opportunities for growth and experimentation, and a tight-knit network.

  • Being a part of a highly-regarded Austin art collective with other distinguished artists.

  • The camaraderie that comes as being a vital part of a shared effort.

Selection Process

Your application will be kept on file for one year or until a New Member Vote occurs, creating an Applicant Pool that will be ready to go when we need to fill a position. Applicants will be made aware that they may be considered for an ICOSA membership at any point for one year following the submission of their application.

In the event of a vacancy, all current ICOSA members will review applications received. New Member Voting will be held when there is a minimum of three applicants for each open slot.
